According to Gudro's colleagues, he was a decisive and courageous professional, who devoted himself entirely to the fulfillment of the tasks set. But in the later stages of the campaign in Afghanistan in the late 2000s, Goudreau began to show a thirst for adventurism and a desire to make money. This led to problems: in 2013, he was put on trial in a $ 62,000 embezzlement case in which Goudreau was the main defendant. But they could not prove his guilt, and he was acquitted. Although he wanted to return to duty, treatment and rehabilitation were unsuccessful. In 2016, he was recognized as a disabled person, not suitable for service in special forces. Evil tongues argued that it was a convenient way for Gudro to part with the army, where he earned little and there was talk of unproven money theft. But officially the future creator of Silvercorp left precisely for medical reasons.
Goudreau leaves the service after receiving disability benefits, a government-assigned pension, and a US passport. Prior to that, he served in the US Armed Forces for 15 years as a Canadian citizen.
Here you can again draw parallels with Prince, who in "SEALs" rose to the rank of lieutenant in a much shorter period and did not have such a long experience in the special forces. Prince's example is important, as he perfectly demonstrates that "they were guys from different leagues." He had a lot of money, his father's acquaintances with senior officials of the US Republican Party, as well as the connections of Prince himself, obtained during his internship at the White House. Goudreau was an ordinary Canadian without much money and connections, who rose to the rank of sergeant first class for 15 years and was accused of theft. Therefore, it is not surprising that Prince got Blackwater, while Goodro got only Silvercorp. This is an important point to understand "what went wrong with private contractor Goodro."
After retiring from the army, Gudro decided to try himself in the private sector, especially since since the beginning of the 2000s, many retired military men have found themselves in various PMCs (primarily in Blackwater), and he himself had experience working with them in Afghanistan and Iraq. while serving in the 10th special forces group. His career as a private contractor kicked off in 2017 when Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, damaging the island's economy and infrastructure. Goudro, along with a group of retired military personnel, contracted to work on ensuring security, delivering medicines, protecting valuable property from looters, and so on. In fact, he was doing about the same thing as PMC Blackwater during the aftermath of the hurricane and floods in New Orleans in 2005.
The money he earned and the first big deal in Goudreau's portfolio prompted him to go to a new level and create his own private military company, which in the future was supposed to compete for government contracts. That is, go the same way as Prince once did.
